4th of July and Almost There!

I managed to survive last week with all of those Dr. appointments. This week is the complete opposite because we are using it to get ready for the hip replacement. There's a ton of little things that we are doing because of how I'll be incapacitated for the next couple of weeks. As the date draws closer I think we are more than prepared. We are constantly reminding ourselves that this is going to be very different than when I broke my hip because we had no time to prepare for all of the major life changes. There certainly is some stress in the house but all things considered we are a lot calmer than I thought we would be at this point. Words can not describe my appreciation for Mrs. Abi because this has been a long couple of years since the accident and she's stood by everything. She has endured a lot coupled with a job that she has hated. Yet she's kept on trucking. THANK'S BABE!

As usual here's the holiday and week in pictures...

WGHP's Van Denton is not the most liked guy around here because it's rained everyday in the past week and he's promised rain everyday in long range forecast. It's not a constant rain but anytime we have made plans to do something its rained...

As to be expected Abi and I made the pilgrimage to Blews Lake for the Fourth of July with my parents. There were several major rain storms that kept everything wet. Just like every time we go up there we had an awesome Low Country Boil. For all of the Yankee readers the picture shows what an awesome Low Country Boil should look like. It's just potatoes, sausage, corn and shrimp boiled together with some Old Bay Seasoning...

Sorry for the low quality picture but I didn't want to scare our guest. My parents newest pet Raccoon made an appearance. There's a flock of ten ducks that show up to my parent's house every two hours to eat on their front door step. Barack has decided to join in the fun as well. I think my parents spend more money on bird and duck food than when they had two 35 pound overweight Dachshunds. But hey their pet collection is very entertaining...

In the South you either shoot your own fireworks off or you watch someone else do it. As is tradition we all went out on my parents boat to watch fireworks. There were about 3 or 4 different shows going off. We had a great time.

We got home about 11pm from the lake. While we were channel surfing Maggie decided to get in on the Firework action. Several of our neighbors shot off fireworks till midnight and Maggie was quite curious about them. She is completely unfazed by thunderstorms and fireworks in the past but this year was different...

With all of the Dr's appointments at the hospital that charges for parking. I had to carry cash since the hospital parking only takes cash. Somehow I managed to get all of my parking for free. I figured I would enjoy a guilty pleasure of Dunkin Donuts Munchkins using the cash I saved. I think I am ready to ditch Krispy Kreme as my favorite doughnut...

We stayed soo busy this weekend running errands, cleaning and cooking that Maggie got overwhelmed. She basically thought her job was to keep the recliner warm. As we get ready for the surgery we seem to be in a nesting mode. Yet strangely enough we should be used to me not being worth a flip since I have already spent a ton of time not being able to walk with no time advance preparation....

Sunday afternoon found us at a church picnic to see if this is a place we want to invest more energy into. We are so sick and tired of not having a church home since due to all of our moving that we are ready to just settle down. It seems like we may have found a home at a church that we have been attending since early June. Going to the picnic I promised Abi I would be on my best behavior and wouldn't scare anyone by being the liberal hippie Methodist that I actually am... We actually had a great time and are thinking we want to invest in this place. There are a ton of young couples our age who seem like us. Who knows what the future may hold but this might be the place...

This is our week in pictures...
