It's been a week. You know the kind that just wear you out. On Monday I woke up feeling pretty horrible - lots of pain and knew I had another ear infection or two. I had to drag myself out of bed to take Andy to work and on the way there our car died. Our newer car that had just gotten here from the US and just passed inspection last week. So I had to walk back up the hill and get the other car while Andy tried to figure out what was going on with the car. I had to spend the rest of the day trying to figure out what to do about the car and then decided it would have to wait until the next day to get towed by the guys on base (who weren't open on Mondays) since our ADAC (like AAA here in Europe) cards hadn't come in the mail yet and the people on the phone either couldn't understand me and/or couldn't find our account. Then I went and registered myself at the health clinic on base so that I could get seen and get some medicine. They amazingly had an appointment that day and I got in and got meds on Monday. Our health clinic here at Baumholder is pretty good for most things, but if we were to need something more extensive or be seen by a specialist or anything we would either have to go to a German doctor/hospital or drive to another base about 45 min. to the hospital and larger medical facilities there. We are so thankful that we got our insurance cards in the mail just last week and that we have such good health coverage while we are here - or anywhere in the world that we are traveling.
On Tuesday I still felt awful but had to get up and try and get the car towed. We were going to have to take it to the German Ford dealer in town since the small car care on base said it seemed like something electrical from what we told them and they couldn't help us with that. The guys came to tow it and they ended up looking under the hood and found a few loose wires - maybe from shipping it, not really sure - and they just got them tightened back up and the car was back up and running. We were so happy! Saved us a lot of time and money and we didn't have to deal with trying to use the German dealership yet.
After all that....I have been trying to get better this week. Almost there. Not quite though. Hopefully I'll feel better for a big day tomorrow. Our household goods (HHG) shipment is being delivered!!!! So happy! All of our furniture and pretty much everything we own is finally in Germany. I feel like we are moving in again. We are going to be surrounded by boxes, so you might not hear from me again for a few days while we get things unpacked and try and get settled in - finally!
