moving to Germany.....

Things have been pretty crazy for a while.....but we have been quiet on the blog about everything. My husband was just feeling a little superstitious and I didn't want to have to write a retraction like I have the last few times we said we had a big move coming.....and then ended up not moving (like this time two years ago....). And we kind of didn't really believe it was going to happen until about a few weeks before and we realized that we better start getting ready to move. And not just any move - but a move out of the country with my husband's job for a few years.
Andy's job with the American Red Cross Services to Armed Forces needs him to serve in Baumholder, Germany. When they asked us if we wanted to make that move - we said yes! We know that we will miss friends and family while we are gone, but it is just such a great experience that we both know that we will probably never be able to have again. They will be providing housing for us and Andy is looking forward to some new career opportunities and growth there. I'm looking forward to lots of travel and great photography and art inspiration!

Baumholder, Germany  is a little town with an old military base inside the town - Baumholder is the name of both the town and the base essentially - here is some info about the base and its history if anyone is interested. Please keep in touch through the blog and email. Also we would love to have visitors if anyone wants to plan a trip to Europe in the next few years - we are very centrally located to many countries and I'm planning to visit a lot of places and be able to show people around.

I meant to get this post up the day we were leaving, but it just didn't happen with everything we had going on. So now we have arrived here in Baumholder safely and have even been able to get moved into our permanent housing! I'll post more in the next few days about our moving experiences and about our new home and town.

  1. I have only been to Germany once, but I had a great time and met some great people! Where in or near in Germany is your station located?
