home for the holidays....

We haven’t been in too much a of a holiday mode at our home this year.  Since we were traveling so much in Nov. and Dec., I never got around to putting up a tree or decorating…..and since we saw all of our families and “did Christmas” with all of them already – its just the two of us at home, relaxing this year.  When I saw this week’s You Capture theme: Holiday Magic, I wasn’t sure what I’d be able to share.
Then, last night, after an insane few days at work and with some legal things we’ve been taking care of in regards to Andy’s accident, because I’m crazy – I decided on the spur of the moment to go with my husband to volunteer with the American Red Cross.  He had to go and take refreshments and coffee to the families at Ft. Bragg who were waiting for their deployed family members to get home from deployment.  The flight was supposed to come in at 11pm.  It didn’t come in until 12:30 and we didn’t get home until 3:30am.  And I went to work this morning.  Told you I am crazy.  I’m also exhausted.
But I was very thankful to be able to help out and give back to our soldiers and their families.  And I experienced some Holiday Magic that I wanted to share with you.

so excited to be reunited.
After we helped out while waiting, we stood in the background while reunions took place.  We gave out some kleenex.  And welcomed home any soldier who didn’t look like they had a crowd waiting on them.  Just so happy that they can be home to celebrate the holidays with their families.
