a post by Andy

On Tuesday I posted a status update on Facebook that got quite a few people's attention. The facebook status said
Andy might be deploying sooner rather than later...
Yesterday I found out that I may be deploying with the American Red Cross as early as June. I have been told that I am on the back up list. This means that I would go in the instance that something were to happen to anyone scheduled to deploy. There is a good chance that I won't go, but also an equally good chance that I could go. Abi and I have to be prepared in case I get the call saying I need to go on very short notice. This is what I signed up to do when I took this job with the Red Cross. Abi has been a huge supporter of my work and I would not be where I am today without her awesome support. The idea of deploying is still not going to be fun because of the separation. Right now the toughest thing for us is going to be trying to get ready but not knowing for sure if I'm going.

While everyone is going to have a lot of questions to ask there is not a lot of answers that we have or a lot that we can discuss because of Operational Security "OPSEC"concerns. We will keep everyone updated as best we can and if I deploy I will try to update the blog on a regular basis as best I can.

I think I posted this once before, but here is a video clip about the work that I will be doing when I am deployed....
