Abi's weekend up north...

Last weekend, I was so thankful to be able to go up Baltimore/PA for a women's retreat with a few of my best friends. We went to this same retreat last year and we thought it would be a good way to catch up and spend some good time together. My mom and her best friend also went and I was able to spend some time with her there too. Andy was a little sad that I was leaving him behind since it was the first time since we've been married that we've been apart. But he did fine and actually ended up having a lot of work to catch up on this weekend so he kept busy while I was gone.

I drove up on Thursday right after work and made it to my parent's house in Baltimore right at 11pm that night. Friday morning I got up and took my 13-yr old brother, Andrew out to Dunkin Donuts for breakfast and got to spend a little time with him that way before I took him to school. He's a fun kid - very motivated and busy. He's a leader at his church youth group and really involved there. He also aspires to be in the military and have a career with military history and has recently become involved in a pretty hardcore Young Marines program. It was nice to be able to spend a little quality time with him before the women's retreat. I also called my grandmother on Friday morning and went over and visited with her a little. She is almost 94 years old and is an amazing woman! I hope to be just like her if I live to be that old. My younger sister, Katie and her daughter, Samara came over to my mom's house to have lunch with us before we left for the retreat. Here are a few pictures of me and my niece - who has gotten a lot bigger in the last few months!

Then I drove up to PA with my mom and her best friend. The two of them are hysterical when they get together! We checked in and went out to dinner. My friends, Becki and Erin both arrived just in time for the opening session. We had a good time at the retreat and enjoyed the morning workshops on Saturday. Saturday afternoon our good friend Emily Joy came up to see us with her new baby boy, Elijah. She really wanted to come to the retreat with us, but Elijah has been really colic-y and she didn't think she'd be able to handle the long bouts of crying at the hotel. We really missed her, but it was great that she could come up and visit. We were also thankful that her husband was so great in driving her up and first watching their other daughter, Olivia for a while so we could have girl time in the hotel, and then he switched off and watched Elijah while we ran off to grab some food (we took Olivia with us so she could have a chance to hang out with the big girls).

Me and Elijah - he wasn't too fussy for most of the visit - just this moment apparently!

Then my sister Emily, and sister-in-law Jen came up to do some outlet shopping in PA and visit with me. The three of us went out to a great pub in Gettysburg and had a good time looking around in a few shops that were open.

Emily, Jen, and I - visiting my mom's room, where she and her friend were snacking and drinking Sangria.

On Sunday I went back to my parents house and we had a big family dinner before I had to head home.

My little brother is getting so big!

Great weekend - packed with lots of people I love. Just too short. It was good to come back to my husband though, and its been a nice rainy, relaxing weekend for us this weekend.
