Veteran's Day fun

Yesterday was Veteran's Day. Andy and I were both fortunate enough to have the day off to relax and celebrate. We slept in, lounged around, and I tried putting a few highlights in my hair (I'm not so sure I like it, but we'll give it a few days and see if it grows on me). Then we got in the car and drove to Ft. Bragg to meet the kids we work with in the American Red Cross Youth program. We were excited to have a good crowd of them come out on their day off of school to serve. We all piled in cars and drove to the NC State Veteran's Nursing Home to talk to and play Bingo with the veterans there. We had a good time and I think the veterans enjoyed having us there. It was a great reminder to us to be thankful to all the men and women who serve and a good way to say thanks to those who had served us.

After we spent a little while at the nursing home and got all the youth back to their parents, Andy and I spent a little time in Fayetteville. We went to a great craft/home decor store - Hobby Lobby. I hadn't been to one of those stores in years since we don't have them up in Maryland. It was great - I had forgotten how much I love going there! I had to refrain myself from buying more than our budget allowed, but I got a few skeins of yarn for some knitting projects, a tube of paint that I had run out of, and a few picture frames (that were on sale for crazy cheap!) for some paintings I'm working on. Then we went to the mall and grabbed a quick dinner in the food court. We had a great day off! Now it's back to work for the rest of the week....
